Sullivan Names New Head Wrestling Coach

Sullivan, MO, May 8th, 2020:  Sullivan High School is pleased to announce that Carl Lawrence has been selected to be the next head wrestling coach.  Lawrence is a behavioral specialist teacher at Sullivan Primary and has been an assistant on the SHS wrestling staff for the past six years.   

A Sullivan native, Lawrence graduated from Sullivan High School in 2009.   As a senior he placed 4th at State.  Lawrence then attended college at Missouri Valley College where he was an All-American wrestler. Sullivan High School Activities Director Jason Merkel said, “Coach Lawrence’s passion and dedication to the wrestling program has been evident from his first day as an assistant.   He has built tremendous relationships with the athletes and staff and will use his wrestling background to continue the rise and success of Sullivan wrestling.”

The Eagles will look to build on their tremendous 2019-2020 campaign which saw the program’s first Conference and District title, as well as, a top ten finish at State.
